For Carmen Acton, leadership requires authenticity. Our thoughts are full of inauthenticity so if we spend all of our time in our minds, we’ll be controlled by our thoughts. But there are other sources of data. Amongst them, our hearts. Our hearts are the seat of simple, childlike authenticity. If we can feel what our hearts are telling us, we can learn how we truly feel. We can know when we are being authentic or not and others will feel it in their hearts, too. The more we can connect to every aspect of ourselves, the more authentic a leader we will be and the more others will feel our leadership and develop their own.
